De niña pasé unos años en un lugar de los Andes en el que el animal de carga por antonomasia era la mula. Las mulas llegaban donde no llegaban los tractores ni los todoterrenos ni las pick-ups.
Sentía tanta admiración por estos animales que mi padre me recitaba este poema de Chesterton (referido, supe años después, al domingo de ramos).
Se lo dedico a Víctor y sus cuentos maravillosos.
THE DONKEY

And figs grew upon thorn,
Some moment when the moon was blood
Then surely I was born;
With monstrous head and sickening cry
And ears like errant wings,
The devil's walking parody
